I use feedly to keep track of all the blogs that interest me. Pulls them up on one page so that you can either delete off the ones that don't interest you or preview them on the same page. seems to keep them for quite a while if I don't get to them right away.

If you have a Google or Yahoo account, both offer feed readers that you can subscribe to blogs of interest. There are MANY way to keep up on the 'net

I've been noticing that too--I'd love to see them succeed, there's always been a lot of potential. I'm planning to re-join once I see a little more progress.

I joined their chat list, but it's pretty low key.

What I'd really like to see are a list of all the programs they have in place, plus whatever slants on Hellenic religion they have.

I'll be posting updates on my blog about new programs as they receive support from within the organization. There are a lot of ideas floating right now, but it takes a bit to see what will catch on.

Current programs include a Basic Adult Education class (a self-study course on Hellenic Polytheism theory) and the Clergy Program.

For slants on Hellenic religion, I would recommend reading blogs off the blog roll here:
http://sites.google.com/site/hellenionstemenos/Home/hellenion-chat-blog-roll

and participating in Hellenion_Chat. The best way to learn is to ask. : )

If you post comments on my blog or send me an email, I will happily answer questions or discuss topics as they come up.

I'm going to re-join the Chat list too. I am curious why the blogroll is on the Google group instead of the main Hellenion website?

Well the way the main Hellenion website is hosted these days, it's one user/one password. (And no, I don't feel like taking on that mess this week. It's free, it's easy, and Randall is terrific). While Dennis has only been gone about 30 days (you can imagine what it was like when he was on the webteam. He didn't like Hellenion_chat and non-members listed on the website? OMG!!!) his departure demonstrated the vulnerability we have. (I got nervous about how he was talking and got the password changed. Well, turns out he was leaving and he did hit the delete key on his way out.) Now while we do have backups for the entire DDUTTON section of the website, it's not a section I am sad to see go (a couple of us had issues but never said anything). Yet, his hitting the delete key.... yeah it feels like he ripped out half the content of the site.

So right now I am REALLY comfortable with the model of "information that is pretty steady and not changing a whole lot: main website"
"information I want any of the 50 members to be able to update?: google site"

Do I need to finish updating the site with more links between the two? Sure, but my first priority was (a) assuring the clergy crowd that program wasn't hung (b) assuring the clergy crowd if anything this gives them new freedom and momentum.
oh and
(c) having the tamias quit with a large amount of our property in his possession? And no bank account to process September renewals? Yeah, it's boring bureaucracy but I am determined to keep our legal framework (I consider it an asset) intact.

okay, so really my first priority was my daughter's birthday (today). I have met children of pagan "leaders" who played second fiddle to their parents religion, and they resented it A LOT.

Why am I not surprised there was drama with Dennis leaving? Dear gods that's got to be a train wreck of a story. And now totally understand the surge in activity on the Google site.

Have a great birthday party, and you're 110% right--she absolutely comes first. It sounds like it's going to be a blast.

I'm curious, what would you like to see specifically?

I'm not sure specifically, but I'll give you my history with Hellenion and you can maybe see where I'm coming from. Please keep in mind that I'm friends with Kyrene, so while I don't think that was a factor, I've never ruled it out entirely.

Things were discussed repeatedly, but nothing ever came from those discussions except the calendar, which I helped with--yet it took forever for anything to be done with the research and whatnot. I was elected to the Boule, but despite 3 weeks of emailing, was never invited to the list, nor did I get a reply from any of the people I contacted (that was the reason for leaving Hellenion, I felt disrespected). Also, the main website is so out of date it's not even funny--which you already know.

Basically, I lost respect for the organization do to extremely poor follow-through and reading/hearing how the board was treating Kyrene (that however is in the past, and a whole new Board is in place, and I never let her leaving affect my membership or desire to serve on the Boule).

yeah, that apathetic degree of follow-up (or non-follow-up) had me to the point of quitting. no one needs another venue for intellectual masturbation, or worse, an organization that not only does nothing but also shuts down any efforts to even discuss.
it's been pretty dismal for a long time.
but i think it's changing. we're trying anyway.

Just what I need, another blog for my blogroll and more time online when I should be working on other things. Dammit...oh, well, as habits go, this one isn't too bad, right?
